Welcome to
Paul Askew Art

Art and creativity are essential to who I am—they ground me, give me space to breathe, and offer peace in a world that can often feel overwhelming. Painting is not only a form of expression; it’s a way for me to connect—with myself, with others, and with the world around me.
As a self-taught artist, my practice has been shaped by instinct, curiosity, and a desire to continually grow. I’ve explored a wide range of subjects over the years, from architectural forms and intimate portraits to expansive landscapes. Each piece is a personal journey, an attempt to capture emotion, memory, or a fleeting moment of light. I enjoy working across various media, allowing the subject and mood to guide the tools and techniques I choose.
Much of my work to date has been in the form of commissioned pieces and heartfelt gifts—each one a deeply personal collaboration with the recipient. Creating bespoke art that celebrates lives, preserves memories, and marks meaningful moments is something I find incredibly fulfilling.
Now based in the beautiful Cotswolds, I find endless inspiration in the surrounding countryside. While the region’s honey-hued stone villages and historic charm are captivating, it’s the ever-changing skies and the dramatic play of light over the rolling landscape that have truly sparked a new direction in my work.
I’m proud to be exhibiting with Artysan Cotswolds in Stow-on-the-Wold and welcome opportunities to connect with others through art. Whether you're interested in commissioning a bespoke piece or simply want to discuss ideas, I’d love to hear from you.

How to Commission an art work
It is so easy to do
Firstly, contact me to chat about your ideas. Tell me the story behind your desire to commission a piece.
We can discuss what media you feel would best suit the subject you have chosen.
I usually work from photographs but in some cases it is nice to meet the subject in person in order to gather an understanding of character and relationship.
For example, I knew the building well but it could be viewed from so many different angles. Finding the right one was the difficult decison.
